The travel industry continues to mature, making things easier for millions who crave innovation.
Now this week was extremely arduous with the awful attacks coming out of Brussels. Our hearts go out to all who might be affected by the tragedy.
As we do every week, we take a look at the top stories in travel but from a more whimsical standpoint.
Hopefully, it’s a small respite amid such horror. And, as we always ask, please feel free to provide any stories you think we my have missed.
There may be hope on the horizon for travelers hoping to travel by supersonic speeds. And, thankfully, you won’t have to be super rich, just regular rich.
Upvote: We may be getting a tad greedy considering all the innovations we enjoy throughout so many industries.
But it’s time to ramp up how quickly we hop around the world. We think a three-hour trip across the continent isn’t too much to ask.
What’s In a Tag?
As TravelPulse’s Josh Lew reports, Alaska Airlines is flirting with the idea of a luggage tag innovation that would revolutionize that little baggage accoutrement. It may even lead to checking your bags at home, leaving you with the chore of dropping off the bag at the airport.
Upvote: The last time those little tags were updated they got a little email line for you to fill in just in case you lost your bag. So, yeah. It was probably time for some sort of innovation.
This is just the kind of tech that would bring a wealth of comfort and peace of mind to flyers worldwide.
Taiwan, in an effort to increase ridership, launched a Hello Kitty train, which is replete with all things Hello Kitty.
Upvote: Sometimes you feel depressed with the realization that you have to come home after a wonderful vacation in Taiwan.
Now you can schedule that depressing thought on this monstrosity, which should make the return trip a bit easier to swallow.
Upvote: Being the lazy species we are, it’s pretty darn awesome that we live in an era when we don’t have to do all that much to enjoy the fine things in life.
Heck, with virtual reality knocking on the door we may not even have to ever leave the house to enjoy a vacation.
