Music is eternal.
Music is international.
Music is life.
Music is love.
It's the summer, and music is at the forefront-the annual SXSW event was held in March and Coachella took place earlier this month-with a bevy of festivals based right here in the US.
ROLLING LOUD
A three-day long festival featuring hip-hop music held in Miami's Bayfront Park, this takes place May 5-7 and features another blockbuster lineup: Kendrick Lamar, Future and Lil Wayne headline the event.
HANGOUT FESTIVAL
It literally is what its name implies: You're hanging out, on the beach in Gulf Shores, Alabama, listening to a variety of the hottest music around. And we mean hot: Twenty One Pilots, Mumford & Sons, Chance The Rapper and Frank Ocean headline May 19-21.
BONAROO MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL
It doesn't get a heck of a lot better than this. From June 8-11 in Manchester, Tennessee, you're going to see the legendary U2, The Weeknd, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chance The Rapper again, Lorde and more. It's an incredible time, to say the least.
SUMMERFEST
So big that they do it in two shifts instead of one. This year, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin., it's June 28-July 2 and July 4-9.
Why? Take a look at the lineup: Bob Dylan, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sheryl Crow, Big Sean, The Chainsmokers, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, and much, much more.
ESSENCE MUSIC FESTIVAL
New Orleans and music. Kind of like a natural, like peanut butter and jelly, no?
From June 30-July 2 this year, you're talking the legendary Diana Ross, the aptly named John Legend, Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, India.Arie, Chaka Khan, Chance The Rapper and Solange, among others. Here's Mary J. from her last appearance at the Essence Music Festival in 2014.
