Walking Sunglass Hut Pitbull is taking his momentous media prowess to tout the finer points of the great state of Florida.
The Tampa Bay Times' Justine Griffin reports the pop music giant is making a splash for tourism in his own home state.
Griffin writes on the 34-year-old who was born in Miami: "Pitbull, whose real name is Armando Christian Perez, is Visit Florida's newest ambassador. He will film his upcoming video for the single 'Sexy Beaches' in Florida."
For those who have yet to hear Pitbull's music, it's not unlike a night with a sugary mojito. Oh, there is fun to be had, but by the morning you will still have the unrelenting thumping in your head.
Here is a taste test:
As the report reminds, Pitbull's pull is potentially massive, making him a sensible choice to become the state's budding tourism ambassador.
The rapper currently boasts over 21 million followers on Twitter, 2.3 million on Instagram and over 60 million likes on Facebook.
It's on the latter outlet that he chose to share the good news:
Paul Phipps, the chief marketing officer for Visit Florida, spoke with Griffin and explained why the campaign chose Pitbull to lead the charge: "Pitbull is certainly 'Mr. Worldwide,' but he's also a native Floridian with a true passion for the Sunshine State. Aligning our two brands not only allows us to have a Florida ambassador who can help tell the authentic story of the state's diverse travel experiences, but provides us a platform to reach a new generation of travelers through his global fan base."
Now Pitbull isn't exactly going to hand out pamphlets on Floridian holidays at the airport, but he will spread the word in the usual fashion afforded the uber popular.
According to the report, this means promoting Visit Florida during a concert on New Year's Eve in Miami, which means marketing to people already in the confines of Florida. (Round of applause on that one.)
Griffin states that Pitbull will also bang the drum in a weeklong radio spot on iHeart Radio as well as infusing global concerts with the hashtag #LoveFL.
We imagine he will do all of this exhausting work while never as much as attempting to take off his sunglasses.
