Officials behind the design and construction of the $1 billion Warner Bros. theme park being built in Abu Dhabi have revealed details for the facility, including portions of the park dedicated to Superman's Metropolis and Batman's Gotham City.
According to Variety.com, the city of Metropolis will be reminiscent of what fans have seen in the Superman movies and comics, featuring towering skyscrapers. On the other hand, the Gotham City area will consist of dark alleys to remind fans of the iconic locations in the Batman lore.
The amusement park, dubbed Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, will also feature themed portions dedicated to the Looney Tunes and Hanna-Barbara brands. The area called Cartoon Junction will feature Bugs Bunny and Scooby-Doo while the Bedrock land will be a prehistoric world based on the Flintstones.
Several artist renderings of the new park were released on Twitter:
"Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi will be a state-of-the-art themed experience that authentically brings some of the studio's most iconic characters and stories to life under one roof for the first time in the Middle East," Warner Bros. consumer products president Pam Lifford told Variety.
"We have been closely collaborating with our partners at Miral to faithfully construct immersive worlds that resonate with precise details and are thrilled to share these unique experiences with fans next year."
