Not all motorcycle rides are created equal.

The following video highlights the joy and difficulty that comes with traversing the roads that lead through the Himalayas. It comes (h/t Digg) by way of YouTube channel GoPro Man, which is an apropos title when you see this impressive video.

It’s a first-person view of a trip that covers over 5,000 kilometers in just 23 days. While that sounds daunting, the uploader is nice enough to whittle down the epic adventure to just under 10 minutes of captivating footage.

The video teases with an intro of brilliant images of gorgeous locales and some treacherous looking roads.

This is hardly a pleasant scenic trip down the coast on your normally paved roads. This is the kind of journey that takes courage and skill.

GoPro Man explains a bit more on YouTube: “Covered about 5,340kms in 23 days ride started from Chandigarh to all the way up to Leh and back until Bangalore!”

The post also has a list of the myriad locations this traveler experienced along the way with a 23-day breakdown of the itinerary. At points, such as the trek from Manali to Jispa, the motorcyclist maneuvered some truly arduous roads that mandated swerving in and out of the way of slow-moving trucks.

Traversing this amazing part of the world is, sadly, a rarity for so many of us. Thanks to a GoPro Hero 3+ and Hero Basic, we get to tag along for one mesmerizing ride.
