WATCH: Video Shows Lightning Striking In-Flight Airplane

Like a flirtatious nudge from Mortal Kombat’s Raiden, one recent flight received a bolt of lightning.

The remarkable thing is that someone caught the entire thing on video.

Now besides being astonishing in the natural phenomena department, the following video is also wonderful from a brevity standpoint.

Posted to YouTube by Mitchell Stewart, it’s all of 16 seconds. That’s roughly the amount of time it takes to proclaim, “Hey, that’s pretty darn cool.”

Stewart explains: “On approach into Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport on the 3rd of February 2016 our Etihad Airways Flight Number 37 from Abu Dhabi International airport our Boeing 777 was struck by lightening (sic) on the wingtip. The plane went on to make a safe landing in Paris shortly after.”

Now this is hardly the first time lightning has been captured trying to hitch a ride.

TravelPulse’s Rich Thomaselli spotted the following marvel last August:

As Tom Cruise discovered in “War of The Worlds,” this is obviously the work of aliens:

Or it could just be naturally occurring rains striking a parked Delta airplane. In either case, we love to see Mother Nature out strolling the travel industry.

So keep recording and we will continue to refresh this Internet machine until the next storm.
