Let Colonel Sanders straighten his string tie, adjust his iconic white suit and give you directions to wherever your respective travels will take you.

According to a press release, the newest recognizable voice to hit navigation app Waze is an actor playing the beloved founder of KFC.

The release explains for those who have not yet fiddled with the voices that serve as navigator and friend along modern-day journeys: “Now through Aug. 16, Wazers will be able to opt in to using The Colonel's voice for navigation by clicking Settings -> Sound -> Voice Language -> Colonel Sanders.”

Sadly, it doesn’t seem from the release that the voice actor is the same as the man taking up the Sanders look for television commercials.

That, of course, goes to Darrell Hammond who has already played the likes of Bill Clinton on “Saturday Night Live.” More recently, he played the part of fried chicken purveyor:

Before you switch over to Sanders, you can get a snippet of the icon proclaiming one of myriad “Colonel-isms” available on Waze by clicking this link where he states: “Pothole on the road ahead. I'd fill it with gravy.”

The release also offers a rather remarkable navigational anecdote from the real Sanders’ past: “This actually isn't the first time The Colonel has given navigational directions to drivers. Over 90 years ago, he painted a sign to direct motorists to his gas station in Corbin, Kentucky. When a rival gas station owner took offense to losing customers, a gunfight broke out between the two that resulted in the Colonel shooting the man in the shoulder in self-defense.”

This isn’t the first time Waze has used such recognizable entities. Celebs such as former NBA player Vlade Divac, Terry Crews and Kevin Hart have also lent their voices for the navigation app.

Now it’s the Colonel’s turn to make sure you make it safely to your destination, which just might be where the food comes by the bucket.
