While it's not always the case, travel is supposed to be fun.

Although you can find a great hotel or vacation resort almost anywhere, it's rare to find affordable world-class accommodations in a paradise destination.

In that spirit, here are some under-the-radar hotels and resorts guaranteed to deliver a luxurious experience to the average traveler.

St. Kitts Marriott Resort & The Royal Beach Casino

Where: Frigate Bay, St. Kitts & Nevis

Average Nightly Rate: $189

Few regions offer as many opportunities to distance yourself from the real world than the Caribbean. And while often overlooked, the island of St. Kitts is certainly conducive to relaxation.

That said, the island's biggest resort, St. Kitts Marriott Resort & The Royal Beach Casino, is an ideal retreat for travelers in search of luxury in the Caribbean. A full-service spa, championship golf course and a crystal clear pool are among the standout amenities, but the list doesn't end there.

There's tons to do off the resort property, including hiking and historical tours of the nearby downtown area.

Or if you're feeling lucky check out the Vegas-style casino.

Palazzo Victoria

Where: Verona, Italy

Average Nightly Rate: $292

Verona, Italy's Palazzo Victoria is the perfect escape for couples. That's because guests can actually arrange to have an opera performed in their suite. What's more, this five-star hotel is located just steps away from Verona's top tourist attractions, including Piazza delle Erbe and Arena di Verona.

At the hotel, guests are treated to a complimentary breakfast buffet and provided access to a 14th century courtyard, gym and Zen garden.

You'd be hard-pressed to uncover a more romantic setting.

The Resort at Longboat Key Club

Where: Sarasota, Florida

Average Nightly Rate: $339

There's always something to do at Florida's Resort at Longboat Key Club, especially if you're a sports fan.
Guests can shoot a whopping 45 holes of golf or test their swing at one of the 20 clay tennis courts available.

Tennis lessons and personal training sessions are offered here as well. But if exercise doesn't interest you, this beachfront resort features plenty more amenities and attractions, including relaxing spa treatments and world-class dining.

And if you decide to venture off the property, the St. Armands Circle and the Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium aren't far away.

Westin Playa Bonita

Where: Panama City, Panama

Average Nightly Rate: $175

Located less than five miles from the Panama Canal and just minutes outside of Panama City, the Westin Playa Bonita is among the region's newest getaway destinations, having opened just over three years ago.

Stellar views of the ocean and rainforest steal the show here, but there's lots more to love about this underrated hotel, which also boasts not one, but three infinity edge pools.

There's even a swim-up bar so you don't have to dry off to refresh.

Tabacon Grand Spa Thermal Resort

Where: La Fortuna, Costa Rica

Average Nightly Rate: $199

Surrounded by 900 hundred acres of rainforest, Costa Rica's Tabacon Grand Spa Thermal Resort is a nature lover's dream getaway.

The resort is actually located at the base of the Arenal Volcano, so Mother Nature does most of the work here. Like the name suggests, several thermal hot springs flow through the resort, allowing guests to relax the way nature intended.

And because the resort is completely carbon-neutral, you won't even feel guilty while doing things like this:
