The NFL season kickoff is always a big week in Las Vegas. Apart from college football, the second weekend in September marks the first whole weekend of pro gridiron betting in Sin City. If you are planning to go, now is the time to book. Here are a few deals to send you in the right direction.
Coming off a $230 million dollar renovation, the Linq is sitting dead center of the Strip with everything you need right there. Let’s face it, you are only sleeping and showering in your hotel room, so why not save extra hotel money to put down on your team before any losses?
If you don’t know it, this used to be the Hilton. Yes, that same Hilton where Elvis shot out the TV. It sits only one long block behind the strip, but it is on the monorail and that can drop you off behind the SLS to the north, or behind Harrah’s, the Flamingo, Bally’s and the MGM to the south.
Locals Resort — Gold Coast Hotel and Casino - $94 per night via hotels.com
The Gold Coast sits across the street from the Palms and one block further off the strip than the Rio. It is a very short walk to either of the two and the Gold Coast also runs a shuttle to the Orleans and the Strip. The games are plentiful, the table minimums are usually reasonably priced and there is live entertainment nightly and bowling upstairs.
The El Cortez is one of the oldest hotels in Las Vegas and is located right in the middle of downtown on Freemont Street. Because of its heritage, in 2013, the hotel was added to the National Register of Historic Places. They go old school here with themed restaurants and even have classic real-coin slots. The poker room here is known to pop with regulars and occasionally the bigger stars, too.
Budget Hotels – America’s Best Value Inn - $35 per night via otel.com
Just one block behind Hooters, which is one block off the Strip and right across the street from the MGM is the America’s Best Value Inn. And it is jammed almost every weekend night. Sure, it is the same price as the El Cortez, but the location here is killer. The area is clean, safe and within walking distance of the sports book at the MGM, and cheap beer and wings at Hooters.
The prices for Vegas change daily and as more and more people get settled into “fall” way of thinking, you had better believe that those rooms are going to fill up fast. Football is right around the corner...
