Airlines Report Better On-Time Performance in March, No Long Tarmac Delays

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported no tarmac delays of more than three hours on domestic flights in March as well as an on-time arrival rate of 79.8 percent in March, down from March 2012’s 82.2 percent mark, but up from February 2013’s 79.6 percent. The report released on May 14, said that although no domestic tarmac delays of over three hours were reported, one international flight from Bogata, Colombia to Orlando that diverted to Miami did have an over four hour delay on the tarmac and is under investigation by the DOT. ...
