Apple Pay at the Casino? It's Happening! Sort of...

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas has announced via the Las Vegas Review Journal in a statement today that this summer they will begin to offer Apple Pay at their resort. Apple gurus will be able to flick their Apple watch or iPhones at terminals at the front desk, VIP services, concierge, restaurants, lounges, bars, and a variety of their retailers.
Cosmopolitan chief marketing officer, Lisa Marchese, stated that “the arrival of Apple Pay on the Las Vegas Strip is a natural fit, offering increasingly mobile-centric, luxury travelers a streamlined and convenient experience. As always, we are thrilled to lead the market with a new component to a Las Vegas experience that makes everything a bit faster and a great deal easier.”
And for people that are on the Androids of the world? No worries there either; the Apple Terminals will be able to accept other forms of electronic pay, including Google Wallet.
If you are waiting to use your phone to give you more money on the slot machine or at the blackjack table, you will be waiting a little longer. There is no plans to take the interfaces to the gambling side of the resort business, yet. But it can't be far off.
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas has always prided itself on marketing to the “curious class,” and technology usage certainly falls into this psychographic. The resort was sold to the buyout group Blackstone by Deutsche Bank last year for a cool $1.73 billion in cash.
