ASTA, BTC Plan Webinar on IATA’s New Distribution Capability

Features & Advice | International Air Transport Association (IATA) | James Shillinglaw | April 10, 2013

The American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) and Business Travel Coalition (BTC) will hold a free webinar on April 26, 2013 to explore the International Air Transport Association's Resolution 787 and IATA’s planned New Distribution Capability (NDC) for airline tickets. The webinar will feature Paul Ruden, senior vice president-legal and industry Affairs for ASTA, and Kevin Mitchell, chairman of BTC.

IATA has filed an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for approval of its Resolution 787, which includes a new worldwide business model for the pricing and sale of airline tickets that could structurally change the industry in ways impacting all supply-chain participants, including the end customer. The DOT has set a deadline of May 1, 2013 to receive industry and airline customer comments.
