A destination's photographic worthiness is really hard to pinpoint. It’s pretty relative and ultimately depends on personal preference. But professional photographer Peter Lane Taylor was recently asked to share his favorites.
One of his top destinations: the South of France.
“Southern France is home some of the most historically photographed locations in Europe, including the medieval villages of Lacoste (of the tennis apparel fame) and Carcassonne, Provence’s endless lavender and sunflower fields, the beaches of the French Riviera (Cote d’Azur) stretching from Monaco in the east to Cassis west, and the iconic celebrity and billionaire hotspots of Cannes, San Tropez, and Nice,” wrote Taylor.
Another European favorite tops his list: Greece.
“For travel photographers, Greece’s visual appeal goes far beyond the white-washed, Santorini-esque islands and ancient Athenian ruins,” noted Taylor.
Patagonia is another favorite.

“Unlike the American West, it’s also hemmed in by ocean and fjords at the edges which make for some of the most dramatic scenery in the world,” he says.
