There really is no wrong way to travel. Whatever way the urge to put one foot in front of the other strikes you, that’s just fine by us — as long as you’re getting out there and leaving footprints on as many points of the globe as you can.

That said, if you saddle up to the watering hole at your destination of choice and aren’t the slightest bit curious about what the locals are drinking, you’re doing it wrong.

Part of travel is immersing yourself in a new place — meeting its people, experiencing their culture and seeing the world through their eyes. And of utmost importance to that immersion is sampling the local libations.

Each culture’s drink of choice reflects its character, whether it’s the vibrant refreshment of Brazil’s caipirinha or the rich coconut of The Philippines’ lambanog. By raising a glass alongside its people, you can happily stumble through a destination with a richer understanding.

To aid you in the quest to drink your way through the world’s many cultures, the good people at Fly Abu Dhabi have put together this enlightening infographic, outlining the many inhibition-annihilating drinks that help define their destinations.
