Do you ever wish your spouse would join your points and miles game? Of course, you do.

Everyone knows that two point-earners are a lot better than one, mostly because spouses can each earn their own signup bonuses.

Unfortunately, not everyone wants to get into the game, deal with the hassle or manage signup bonus requirements. However, you may be able to talk your spouse into jumping in with the right approach.

The key to luring your spouse into the game is choosing the right card from the get-go. Obviously, you'll want one that's easy to use and free from fees and crazy stipulations. Of course, you'll also want to choose a card that offers a signup bonus or something even better:

Chase Freedom Unlimited

Chase Freedom Unlimited is a smart, no-annual-fee newbie card that can boost your travel rewards tremendously if you have a premier Chase travel card of your own. Chase Freedom Unlimited offers 1.5 points for each dollar you spend, plus a $150 signup bonus after you use the card for $500 in purchases within three months.

If you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred or another premier Chase travel card, your spouse can also transfer these points to your account point transfers with partners like Hyatt and Southwest. They can also cash them in for gift cards or cash back.

Chase Freedom

The idea behind having your spouse get the regular Chase Freedom card is the same: They earn the same $150 signup bonus after they use their card for $500 in purchases within the first three months, and they can also transfer their points to your premier Chase travel card account (Preferred, Reserve, Ink Business Preferred) for premium travel redemptions.

However, instead of earning a flat 1.5 points for each dollar you spend, you get one point per $1 on all purchases and five points per $1 spent on your first $1,500 spent in categories that rotate every quarter.

If the rotating categories align well with your spouse's spending habits, earning 5x points could incentivize them into the game. This card also comes with no annual fee.

Barclaycard Cash Forward World MasterCard

The Barclaycard Cash Forward World MasterCard is another cash back card perfect for enticing people into earning credit card rewards. This card earns a flat 1.5 percent cash back for each dollar you spend. On top of that, it never charges an annual fee.

To pull your spouse in even further, this card comes with a $200 signup bonus after you use it for $1,000 in purchases within the first 90 days.

Citi Double Cash

While the Citi Double Cash doesn't have a signup bonus, it offers extreme earnings without an annual fee. Plus, the way it works is simple and that can mean a lot to a reluctant newbie starting out.

Here's how it works: Once you sign up for the Citi Double Cash Card, you'll earn two points per $1 spent-one point when you spend and the other when you pay the purchase off.

At the end of the day, your rewards will work out to a flat 2 percent cash back. While these points don't transfer to travel partners and you can only redeem them for statement credits, they can show your spouse that, yes, earning 2 percent cash back is better than earning nothing.

Once your spouse realizes this truth, there's no going back.
