Globetrotting can be hard on the body.
Constantly moving from climate to climate, staying in unfamiliar places and eating foreign foods is fun, but it can also be taxing on ones health. In order to increase the chances of staying healthy on the road, Shannon Ullman has put together several tips for staying well on the road for the Huffington Post.
First and foremost, Ullman recommends purchasing travel health insurance.
"In many countries, seeing a doctor for a basic problem is easy to do for little or no cost but for larger problems like motorbike crashes in Vietnam, coming down with Dengue Fever in Indonesia or spraining your ankle while trekking in Scotland, health insurance can be extremely helpful," writes Ullman.
She also recommends sticking to a fitness plan.
"It's easy to fall into that "vacation mode" while traveling, letting exercise fall to the wayside as you relax. This is one of the biggest mistakes a traveler can make; thinking that they don't have to or can't make time for exercise on the road," she notes.
Of course a great way to keep fit is to stay active and Ullman's third tip is to incorporate activities that involve exercise.

"Try hiking in national parks, touring the city by bicycle, kayaking around the stunning lakes or taking a yoga class in the park. See the sites while still keeping your body moving," she recommends.
