Is Instagram the New Out of Office Reply?

Qantas has a fun new way to share your adventures while out of the office, according to the New Zealand Herald.
In a marketing move by the airline, they are souping up arguably one of the most boring emails people receive — the dreaded OOO reply.
“The Flying Kangaroo has teamed up with Instagram to provide email account holders with a simple formula to link their 'out of office reply' to photos from their Insta-account,” reports the Herald.
The new feature is sure to strike up some wanderlust upon receipt — possibly a wee bit of jealousy too. And that’s pretty much the goal.
Qantas Group Executive Brand, Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Olivia Wirth told the Herald that they hoped the "out of office travelogue" would inspire more colleagues, friends and family to travel the world.
Out of office replies are sent out with an array of pictures from your spectacular holiday, letting the people know you are not to be bothered. But don’t worry about how others feel — research shows that they would rather see something more exciting that the regular OOO anyway.
"The traditional out of office message can be both generic and impersonal in nature and from our research, 60 per cent of employees say they would appreciate receiving something more creative," said Wirth in the article.
