Making the Most Out of Your Dolphin Discovery Experience
Swimming with dolphins is an experience of a lifetime. It most certainly graces many people’s bucket lists. If you are visiting one of Dolphin Discovery’s dolphinariums, there is no better time to get in on the action and create a memorable experience.
In order to make the most out of your dolphin swim, Addy Gamboa, Corporate Marketing Manager of Dolphin Discovery recommends choosing one of three programs:
The Encounter lasts 40 minutes and you have the chance to swim with one dolphin. You get to perform five behaviors with the dolphin (a kiss, a handshake, a hand target, free time and a hug). Gamboa says that this program is ideal for children.
The Swim Adventure is 50 minutes long. Guests swim with one dolphin and make seven behaviors with the dolphin (a belly ride, a boogie board a push, a handshake, a kiss, a hand target, free time and a hug).
The most comprehensive choice is the Royal Swim.
“The Royal Swim is our premium program and will for sure be our guest’s experience of a lifetime,” says Gamboa. “We recommend this as it is our most complete program. Guests will learn about dolphins’ agility, intelligence and strength as they glide through the water during the foot push and the amazing dorsal tow.”
The program lasts 60 minutes. Guests swim with two dolphins and make seven behaviors with them (a foot push, a dorsal tow, a handshake, a kiss, a hand target, free time and a hug).
Gamboa also noted that Dolphin Discovery also offers interactions with sea lions and manatees at some of its dolphinariums — a great way to add to your once-in-a-lifetime experience and make it even more memorable.
“In some of our dolphinariums such as the on at Isla Mujeres and Cozumel, we have beach club facilities. Isla Mujeres also have a VIP area, bungalows, buffet and open bar and a sports bar,” she added. “Cozumel and Puerto Aventuras have a buffet included. Dolphin Dreams at Puerto Aventuras offers kayak interaction with dolphins and at Dolphin Akumal and Dolphin Cozumel guests can dive with dolphins.”
Gamboa says that each program is created to meet Dolphin Discovery’s guests’ different needs and requirements.
Guests are able to combine dolphin programs with other animal interactions and with other species. They can even combine a dolphin swim with a ride on a catamaran or a visit to Garrafon National Park, which is available in Isla Mujeres.
The availability of the activities varies depending on the dolphinarium, but there is no restriction on how much you can customize your visit to make it as memorable as possible.
