Mohegan Sun Agrees to Develop One-of-a-Kind Resort in South Korea
Tourists who travel internationally are always looking to have a little fun while abroad, and a new partnership between operators of the Mohegan Sun casino and hotel chain and the Incheon International Airport Corporation plans to offer visitors a unique entertainment experience.
According to Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, the casino giant is teaming with the eighth-largest international airport in the world to develop an 800-acre portion of the airport property into a gateway entertainment city in South Korea.
The construction project would include an integrated hotel-casino resort with the best amenities and entertainment possible. Add in the fact that the proposal would make the resort the first in the world connected to a fixed-base private aviation operation, and this business venture would take advantage of the 45 million annual visitors to the airport.
Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority president Bobby Soper, released a statement about the partnership between the casino-hotel company and airport officials:
“We are pleased to have reached this monumental agreement with Incheon International Airport Corporation, which is a testament to MTGA's performance and ability to develop and operate premier, world-class assets at the highest level. We look forward to extending the unique Mohegan Sun brand, focused on unparalleled hospitality and guest experience, to Korea and providing a new, global customer base at a one-of-a kind, must-visit destination. We have tremendous respect for IIAC and are excited to partner with Mr. Park Wan-su to build on the strengths of our two organizations and create the leading, first-of-its kind offering for travelers across the world.”
The plans are still in the early stages right now, but both parties hope to have a finalized concept agreement by June 30, 2015. The goal is that the construction will add even more intrigue to Incheon International Airport and bring more visitors to South Korea.
While conversations and negotiations are still ongoing, the new complex is expected to house a two-tower luxury hotel complex with 1,000 guest rooms, a private jet terminal, a 18,500 square-meter casino, an indoor-outdoor amusement park, and so much more.
The construction project will also feature a plethora of restaurants, retails stores, and other amenities that will have international travelers eventually considering a stop in South Korea.
