One-of-a-Kind Hotel Christmas Offerings for 2015
With millions traveling for the holidays every year, hotels around the world are constantly faced with the challenge of coming up with new ways to stand out. And one way to attract guests this time of year is to provide them with a Christmas experience they can't find anywhere else.
In that spirit, here are a few one-of-a-kind hotel Christmas offerings that caught our eye this holiday season.
Where: Kempinski Grand Hotel Des Bains; St. Moritz, Switzerland
Similar to Velas Resorts' unique holiday offering, Switzerland's Kempinski Grand Hotel Des Bains allows guests the option to book a pre-decorated Christmas tree for the duration of their holiday stay.
Keep in mind this five-star hotel was once a palace during the 19th century, so you don't have to worry about getting stuck with a Charlie Brown tree.
Where: Barrows House; Dorset, Vermont
It won't be difficult to get into the Christmas spirit at the Barrows House in Dorset, Vermont. An upscale inn dating back to the 19th century, this hotel offers horse-drawn sleigh rides for guests at their request (Santa Claus costume optional).
What's more, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinner is prepared at the Barrows House, meaning guests can celebrate the holiday on-site.
Where: Salamander Resort & Spa; Middleburg, Virginia
Virginia's Salamander Resort & Spa sits on a 340-acre estate in the state's often overlooked horse and wine country. The resort offers tons of year-round activities, but the weekly tree lighting ceremony — which is accompanied by live music — on Saturday nights during the holiday season represents a truly unique offering.
Plus, for children, the resort offers "Brunch with Santa," where kids can bake pastries and craft ornaments.
Celebrate, Even Late
Where: Angels Share Hotel; Edinburgh, Scotland
Edinburgh, Scotland's four-star Angels Share Hotel is so determined to provide a one of a kind holiday experience that it relies on a dedicated Christmas team to ensure guests have a memorable holiday.
"Upon check-in on Christmas Eve, you will be greeted with a glass of mulled wine to get you in the mood for the following day’s celebrations," the hotel's website states. "Included in our fantastic package is a champagne breakfast in bed on Christmas morning where you can relax and open your presents in your uniquely designed boutique bedroom, followed by a three course Christmas Day lunch served in our stunning restaurant."
The boutique hotel even offers belated Christmas celebrations in January for guests who were too busy to enjoy the holiday on time.
Where: Oak Wood Arms Hotel; Clare, Ireland
At Ireland's Oak Wood Arms Hotel, the Christmas Residential packages not only include an appearance from Santa Claus on Christmas Eve (he reads a bedtime story and brings a gift for children) but a live Christmas Carol session performed by the Christmas Hollies.
The session lasts 45 minutes and follows a three-course Christmas Eve dinner. Two- and three-night packages are available.
