Reminder: You Have Until Dec. 31 To Hoard Extra Passport Pages

As reported by TravelPulse in March, the United States Department of State will stop offering 24-page additional inserts for passport books effective Jan. 1.

Before it gets too late—requests will be accepted until December 31—make sure you order the extra insert pages. The current fee for the extra pages is $82.

For potential adult travelers running out of space for new visas in their current 28-page passports, the State Department will begin charging $110 for a new passport of either 28 or 52 pages instead of just issuing the additional inserts.

Prices for children’s passports (16 years old or younger) are less expensive, but they are only valid for five years. Adult passports are accepted for up to 10 years.

The Department of State issued a statement saying “the decision to discontinue this service was made to enhance the security of the passport and to abide by international passport standards.”

For more information on the passport inserts and how to order them, check out the State Department’s official website.
