Sandals Set to Debut New WeddingMoons Program This Week
Sandals Resorts, in an announcement set to take place June 14 at New York's Grand Central Station, will unveil details of its revamped WeddingMoons program, dubbed “Your Wedding, Your Style,” which will now include a new travel agent certification program designed to boost retail sales of the product. WeddingMoons is the concept of celebrating a wedding and honeymoon in the same location. Such celebrations have long been a staple at each of the company’s 14 resorts in the Caribbean.
Every Sandals WeddingMoon includes a personal planning consultant; a dedicated on-resort wedding team; recorded musical accompaniment; a reception for eight guests with chilled hors d’oeuvres, sparkling wine, and a two-tiered wedding cake; as well as preparation of marriage documents, a certified marriage certificate and marriage officiant
Sandals first introduced WeddingMoons in 1994 and went on to focus on destination wedding experiences with such wedding planners as Preston Bailey and, most recently, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, a program introduced in 2009. Now Sandals wants to refocus WeddingMoons as a destination wedding and honeymoon product sold specifically through travel agents.
To do that the all-inclusive resort company is introducing new educational programs for agents that include destination wedding certification and destination wedding courses with hands-on training for a new Sandals Destination Wedding Designer. Sandals also is scheduling wedding-themed mega-fam trips for agents this fall.
Sandals said it is relaunching WeddingMoons for two reasons. First, it has learned that brides want more customization. They love the inspiration that tastemakers such as Martha Stewart provide but they also want to do things their own way. They want to put their personal stamp on it, which is why Sandals is launching “Your Wedding. Your Style,” a wedding concept that allows couples to personally design and execute their dream wedding. Second, Sandals said that for the WeddingMoons program to be successful, agents need to be fully integrated into the selling proposition, which is why it is putting plans into effect to prepare agents to take part in a growing opportunity in destination weddings and honeymoons.
According to Sandals, learning how to sell destination weddings helps agents become a full partner in the experience they are selling and that their clients want. Under Sandals’ new program, agents will see the elements of the experience come to life, meet the on-site wedding consultants and look at Sandals properties with a fresh perspective. The agent certification program is currently being developed. Sandals’ goal is to educate as many agents as possible.
The new Sandals Resorts WeddingMoons “Your Wedding. Your Style” program will focus on customizable weddings. This wedding concept allows couples to personally style and execute their dream wedding at one of 14 Sandals’ luxury Caribbean resorts. The program eliminates the “cookie-cutter” wedding package so couples get the customization options they want. Travel agents get commission on every aspect of a WeddingMoon that they book -- from table settings to flowers for the table and boutonnieres for the groomsmen to spa treatments for the bride and her attendants.
