Sonesta Ocean Point: All-Inclusive Opening Finishes Up with New Restaurant Debut

In Decmber 2014, the Sonesta Ocean Point Resort had the soft opening of their multi-million dollar renovation to the former Ocean Terrace building.
Last week, the finishing touches were being put on the resort with punch lists being knocked out, walking paths being finished up, and their Pièce De Résistance, the new Mediterranean-influenced Azul restaurant celebrating its grand opening.
The 129 all-suite, five-star resort sits adjacent to the famous Maho Beach and guests get a wingman’s view of the wide-body aircraft landing just feet above the cheering beachgoers. Beach access, three pools and three lounges including the stunning rooftop Sunset Lounge and Bar await guests providing 360-degree views.
This adults-only, sophisticated, ultra-luxurious resort ushers in a new era for Sonesta and the Dutch side of the island as well. This luxury property provides service and quality that before now was known to very few places on St. Maarten.
The resort speaks to the guest, who wants to have peace and relaxation coupled with a high quality room product and amenities while maintaining access to the fabulous nightlife that the Dutch side of the island prides itself on.
One of the best features offered to the Ocean Point guests is the reciprocity that is offered with all of the Sonesta resorts on the island. Guests can visit, eat, drink and take advantage of any of the services provided at the Great Bay Beach Resort, Casino & Spa and the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort & Casino in addition which is adjacent to Ocean Point’s facilities.
In addition, Sonesta is stepping out of the norm for all-inclusive resorts and offers an off-property dining option that is open late for guests that are out and about enjoying the fabulous nightlife scene. The Ascot Pub & Sports Bar is located right across from the Casino Royale in the Maho Village and offers a menu of English pub fare and over a dozen high-definition TV screens with international channels showing everything from horse racing and soccer to the NFL, NBA, MLB and they serve food and alcohol until 1 a.m.
Sonesta went to the next level on technology throughout the resort as well. Resort bracelets are handed out to all of the guests upon check-in that contain a magnetically-coded disc that is your door key and doubles as your identification to the other Sonesta resorts’ staff. Swiveling interactive flat screen TVs, Bluetooth-enabled clock radios and resortwide Wi-Fi allow you to have all of your media at your fingertips.
Butler service is available in any of their 25 top-level suites including Roof Top Suites, Sunset Suites and Luxury Penthouses and is second to none. All of the butlers are trained and rated through the International Butler Institute and are at your beck and call from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day. Butlers reach out to the guest before they even arrive at the resort to handle wine choices, restaurant and dietary preferences, and any special requests. Cell phones are provided to each guest so your butler is merely a phone call away.
Mini-bars throughout the resort are anything but mini with four large bottles of spirits as opposed to the small mini-bottle size. In the butler'ed suites, the guests even receive five bottles of the wine of their choosing (from the resort’s cellar) and are conveniently stored in a personal wine vault within each room. Each vault has a separate temperature control for each style of wine.
Sonesta’s Ocean Point Resort allows each guest to enjoy St. Maarten however they would choose by offering a sense of place, not just a place to stay.
