As summer comes to a close, now is the perfect time for travelers to score an excellent last-minute deal.

Fortunately, travAlliancemedia President and CEO Mark Murphy stopped by ABC 7 Chicago's Windy City LIVE on Wednesday to talk end-of-summer travel deals, destinations and what to look for heading into fall's shoulder season.
With prices falling, Europe is high on Murphy's list.

"You can go and explore places like Belgium, Portugal, Spain and Great Britain. There's an added benefit because not only are there great deals out there but the euro is down," said Murphy.
Travelers looking to see more of Europe in less time should consider a river cruise.
"River cruising is an amazing way to see Europe. The nice thing about the rivers is you stop in that little village and get off. It's like a floating hotel, so you're not packing and unpacking," added Murphy. "This is small, intimate and you're on the rivers of Europe so you're right in the village."
Murphy recommends sailing with AmaWaterways for a "five-star experience."
"They also offer Asia, which is on sale as well."

Jamaica is another stellar option, specifically the Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara resorts in Montego Bay.
"The properties are side by side, they're really close to the airport in Montego Bay and they're all-inclusive," Murphy points out.
Domestically, Las Vegas is a perennial favorite for late-summer travel. Those packing their bags for Sin City can score phenomenal deals when traveling on the right dates. Murphy recommends monitoring Google Flights and also taking into account resort fees if booking without a travel agent.
"It gets busy on the weekends. If you go out on a Sunday and come back on a Wednesday that's where it's going to be the cheapest," said Murphy. "You're going to see four- and five-star hotels dropping below $100 per night."
