WATCH: The Northern and Southern Lights As Seen From Space

Traveling to see the Northern Lights is a dream for many natural-born explorers, but NASA astronauts managed to capture video of the naturally forming phenomenon from the International Space Station.

Known as the aurora borealis, the Northern Lights are one of the most iconic natural occurring light displays. The less famous southern lights-dubbed the aurora australis-are also part of the same phenomena.

Using footage from several time-lapse recordings, scientists aboard the International Space Station were able to capture incredible images of both the Northern Lights and the Southern Lights.
