As you are road tripping this summer, and Bridgestone Americas says that 90 percent of you will be, here are some cool survey results for you to noodle. They come courtesy of Bridgestone and are organized into a nifty infographic which you can find at the end of this article.
According to a Harris Poll of 2,000 adults, people save on average at least $1,000 per person for their road trip before they go. If you don’t want to do the math, that works out to about $221 Billion dollars for the country to spend on road trip vacations this summer.
"The survey shows that saving money is an important part of the American summer road trip experience," said Robert Saul, senior product manager, Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations.
The survey also revealed that 94 percent of people perform vehicle maintenance before they leave on their trip and on the average spend $127 to get that vehicle ready. About 72 percent check fluids, 70 percent check tire pressure, and 59 percent change the oil.
"It's great to see that summer road trippers take vehicle maintenance seriously," said Jamie Bullis, lead technician, Firestone Complete Auto Care and National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) 2014 Technician of the Year. "Car and tire care is critical to getting there safely and avoiding issues along the way. And, it can help drivers save money in the long run."
