Industry Veteran Don Kennedy Joins Ensemble Travel Group as VP, Business Development

Ensemble Travel Group today announced the appointment of Don Kennedy to the executive position of vice president, business development, North America. Kennedy will oversee new member growth and retention in the U.S. and Canada and manage a sales team aligned to deliver value to its shareholders and preferred partners.

Kennedy’s more than 25 years in the travel and hospitality industry have encompassed a variety of management roles, ranging from strategic planning and field team leadership to new market/new business development and account relationship management, including both national and global responsibilities. His most recent positions include senior vice president of strategy at Toronto-based Corporate Travel Management Solutions (ctms) and senior vice president of business development at TRAVELSAVERS. Other management appointments include Travel Leaders Associate Division (formerly Carlson Wagonlit Travel) where he was vice president of associate division, Travel and Transport as general manager of leisure operations, and AAA as district manager for a club in the Midwest.

Jaan Albrecht Accepts Position as CEO of SunExpress

Jaan Albrecht, who has been the CEO of Austrian Airlines since November 2011, has accepted a position at SunExpress, a joint venture of Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, and will serve as its CEO starting June 1, 2015.

Paul Schwaiger (60), the current Managing Director of SunExpress, will leave the company due to the expiration of his contract. In order to ensure a smooth handover and a seamless transition, Schwaiger will actively shape the change in the airline’s management and continue to support Jaan Albrecht until the middle of July 2015.

There will also be another personnel change at Austrian Airlines as a result of tomorrow’s fusion of Austrian Airlines and Tyrolean Airways. Klaus Froese will serve as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) in the extended executive board of Austrian Airlines and assume responsibility for the operation. This Extended Executive Board will now consist of Jaan Albrecht (CEO until May 31, 2015), Andreas Otto (CCO), Heinz Lachinger (CFO) and Klaus Froese (COO).

Intercontinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa Appoints Stephane Massarini General Manager

InterContinental Resorts French Polynesia announces the appointment of Stephane Massarini as general manager of the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa.

Massarini joins the resort with more than 15 years of international management experience along with a strong culinary background within leading luxury hotels and resorts.  In French Polynesia, he previously held roles at the Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort & Spa and The St. Regis Bora Bora Resort where he served as executive assistant manager.

Hotel Fouquets Barrière Appoints Geraldine Dobey as New General Manager

Hotel Fouquet’s Barrière, the renown Parisian hotel on the Champs-Elysées, has appointed Geraldine Dobey as the new general manager.

Dobey received her Bachelor’s Degree with honors in Hotel & Catering Management from the Galway Institute of Technology in Ireland. She began her career in the hotel industry in 1991 and held several operational positions before becoming hotel manager at the Hilton London Mews in 1999. She has served as the Hotel Manager at the Hilton London Hyde Park, and director of operations at the Langham Hilton. In 2003, the Hilton Group appointed her general manager of the Hilton Paris. She ran that hotel for five years before taking charge of the Hilton Arc de Triomphe. Then in 2013, she was appointed hotel manager of the Mandarin Oriental Geneva.

Starwood names Alison Taylor Senior Vice President of Sales

Alison Taylor, a 25-year Starwood veteran who has most recently led Sales and Revenue Management in Asia Pacific, has been appointed senior vice president of Starwood’s Sales Organization replacing Christie Hicks. Taylor brings years of experience leading sales, online marketing and revenue management strategies for Starwoods’ growing array of Asia Pacific hotels and resorts.  Taylor joined ITT Sheraton 27 years ago and has worked in six countries across Asia-Pacific.  She also spent two years working for Le Méridien in Indonesia prior to Starwood’s acquisition of the brand. 

The New York Palace Announces New Sales Managers

The New York Palace announces the appointment of two new professionals to its sales team.  Jackie Kelley will join the iconic luxury hotel's team as entertainment sales manager, and Josephine Fontana joins as senior group sales manager.   

After receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing/Marketing Management from the University of Nevada – Las Vegas,   Kelley was hired as the resort marketing coordinator for Wynn las Vegas where she was one of the opening staff members of the first five star and five diamond hotel/casinos in the world. Following this role, Kelley joined the team at Le Parker Meridian New York as a corporate sales coordinator and was later promoted to an entertainment sales executive.      

Fontana joins the hotel most recently from The Plaza Hotel, where she held the position of group sales manager for over two years after serving as diplomatic sales manager and group sales coordinator.  Fontana's prior experience includes positions at Jumeirah Essex House and Mandarin Oriental New York.

Aqua Hospitality and Aston Hotels & Resorts Promote Elizabeth Churchill to Chief Revenue Officer

Aqua Hospitality and Aston Hotels & Resorts announce the promotion of Elizabeth Churchill to the newly created role of chief revenue officer. A veteran marketer and sales leader with expertise in property rebranding and repositioning, Churchill will oversee an extensive portfolio of hotels and resorts – including those in the U.S. mainland – in addition to all marketing, sales, revenue management, and reservations functions in her new capacity.

Churchill’s extensive knowledge of Hawaii’s hospitality and tourism industry, combined with her progressive marketing and revenue management techniques, have led to incredible growth for Aqua Hospitality. Churchill was also responsible for orchestrating the rebranding of Aqua Hotels and Resorts.
