Los Cabos has added four additional feathers to its stellar culinary cap with recent Wine Spectator 2016 Award of Excellence nods at four Villa Group restaurants in Cabo San Lucas. The coveted industry award was bestowed upon some 2,400 winners from across the globe for their unique wine lists that “appease even the most discerning of wine connoisseurs.”
To qualify for an award, restaurants must present a wine list that details vintages, appellations and producer names.
At the tip of the Baja, the high luxury, beachfront Villa La Estancia’s La Casona impresses with a thoughtfully curated vino menu that pairs to perfection with its steak and seafood specialties. The eatery further wows with an open kitchen design and outdoor dining option for breakfast and dinner. Entrees are enhanced with organic vegetables and fruits grown in nearby town farms of Miraflores.
Joining La Casona on the magazine’s list are Bella California, Neptune and El Patron. All four restaurants are located on El Medano Beach in an exclusive gated enclave that is home to Villa La Estancia sister properties of Villa del Palmar and Villa del Arco.
At Neptune Seafood in Villa del Arco, Chef Stuart Roger merges his classic French techniques with Cabo’s more subtle culinary style. Overlooking the Sea of Cortez above El Medano Beach, the restaurant is open nightly for dinner.

Welcoming guests for breakfast and dinner, Villa del Arco’s El Patron Mexican Bistro features traditional Mexican cuisine prepared with a contemporary twist in both terrace and indoor dining areas.
Bella California at Villa del Palmar presents tangy hot pizzas, fresh roasted veggies and fresh-from-the-sea ceviche in a bistro-style setting. The laid-back restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Wine Spectator’s new Restaurants.WineSpectator.com website that debuted in July continues to receive upgrades that include links to award-winning restaurants’ wine lists and websites. Award recipients were also highlighted in the publication’s August issue.
Aside from its cuisine scene, the trio of properties provide guests with access to its 31,000-square-foot Desert Spa. The upscale facility features separate men’s and women’s’ relaxation areas, plus hydrotherapy centers with spacious Jacuzzis, cold plunge pools, cold pressure showers, body temperature pools, steam rooms, saunas and showers. Among the 17 treatment suites are two exclusive VIP treatment suites with private Jacuzzis and showers.
