Winners of 2015 World Travel Awards Announced

In the Grand Final ceremony at the Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort in Morocco, the 2015 World Travel Awards were handed out Saturday to the top performers in a multitude of categories.

The World Travel Awards (WTA) have become an elite benchmark in quality for companies, and the WTA Gala Ceremonies are a major highlight of the year for those associated with the travel and tourism industries.

While the WTA are broken into regions, the winners from the World and Travel Technology categories were finally announced. One of the biggest winners was Etihad Airways, which took home the award for World’s Leading Airline for the seventh consecutive year.

Another company celebrating was Al Faisaliah Suites of Saudi Arabia. Not only did the chain win the award for World's Leading Luxury Suites Hotel, but it also took home top honors for World's Leading Hotel Penthouse.

Some of the other overall winners included Atlantis Paradise Island Resort taking the title of World’s Leading Hotel Website, the Las Vegas Strip being voted World’s Leading Tourist Attraction, HNA Tourism Group walking away as the World's Leading Integrated Tourism Group and Cornelia Diamond Golf Resort & Spa being named World's Leading Fully Integrated Resort.

There were also two awards handed out by the World Travel Awards Academy, which recognized Moroccan Minister of Tourism Dr. Lahcen Haddad for Outstanding Contribution to the Travel & Tourism Industry 2015. The other award was given to Al Khozama Management Company’s Hussein Ali Hatata as the World’s Leading Exemplary Hotel Personality.

World Travel Awards president Graham Cooke released a statement, saying, “It has been an honor to recognize the achievements of the global hospitality sector here at the Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort in Morocco. Each of our Grand Final nominees has been recognized as a regional leader during our Grand Tour 2015, and this evening we were able to salute the best of the best – the elite of international tourism. My heartfelt congratulations to each and every one of our recipients this evening, it is your hard work, dedication, initiative and investment that makes the tourism sector the success it is today.”
