Virtuoso announced the addition of Terra Viajes, a new travel agency member in El Salvador-a development that gives the luxury consortium members in 40 countries on six continents.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, Virtuoso has been in growth mode. Late in 2014 it began accepting its first agency members in Europe, a market that continues to experience rapid expansion.
David Kolner, Virtuoso's senior vice president of global member partnerships, said the consortium is now focusing on Asia, specifically northern Asia, along with Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Virtuoso has been well established in Latin America and the Caribbean for 18 years and in Australia/New Zealand for 12 years, Kolner added.
The consortium has seen a 14 percent increase in member agencies over the last year and a 60 percent jump in the number of countries where its affiliated advisors are found. Its membership now totals 390 agencies.
Kolner stressed Virtuoso's high standards for membership, which is by invitation only.
"As a by-invitation-only organization, we have stringent criteria in place and the agencies we seek out for membership have a solid reputation within the industry while also meeting our sales requirements for luxury products," Kolner said.
