Are you ready for the 2017 Travvy Awards? The must buzzworthy and unique awards ceremony of the travel industry is fast approaching and travAlliancemedia will once again recognize the top travel companies, products and destinations for outstanding achievement.

This year’s event will once again take place at New York City’s iconic Gotham Hall, which 2016 event-goers said was the perfect setting in which to deliver these top-notch awards.

The coveted golden Travvy statuettes will be handed out on Jan. 25, 2017 and voting on this year’s Travvy winners continues through Nov. 30.

For some perspective on the significance of the Travvy honor, we are taking a look back at last year’s winners.

Best Overall Hotel-Caribbean: Hard Rock Punta Cana

In a few short years, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana Hotel has become an iconic property in the Dominican Republic’s ultra-competitive Punta Cana resort district.

The sprawling 121-acre property has brought the leading edge of celebrity culture to Punta Cana and established a strong identity as a true hotspot with a seemingly endless series of concerts and events featuring A-list entertainment.

Furthermore, the resort has a great physical presence. Public areas exemplify the cutting-edge style established at Hard Rock properties across the world, with archive-quality photographs, instruments, garments, records, and paintings tied to global music icons.

The resort offers top-shelf facilities and amenities, attentive service, deluxe accommodations and several dining options. Free-flowing canals wind through the property, flowing from a massive reflecting pool in the center of the property to the edge of Macao Beach. The 60,000-square-foot Rock Spa has 48 spa suites including indoor and outdoor couples’ suites and two Golden VIP suites.

The spa also features an extensive hydrotherapy facility. Deluxe accommodations are highlighted by 206 two-bedroom, 2,500-square-foot Signature Presidential suites, and all rooms offer balconies, double in-suite Jacuzzis and extra-large marble tiled showers.

RUNNER-UP: Royalton Punta Cana

Guests at Blue Diamond Hotels & Resorts’ Royalton Punta Cana enjoy access to the adjacent Memories Resort & Spa. Combined, the all-inclusive resort offers 1,005 rooms with 24-hour room service, free Wi-Fi and 11 restaurants and themed bars. The Memories Splash Punta Cana water park features a wave pool, slides and wet areas for children and adults.
