Awards season is upon us and the 2017 Travvy Awards are fast-approaching. This relatively new celebration of the travel industry is quickly becoming one of the most celebrated events and the 2017 awards will be no different.
New York’s Gotham Hall will once again set the stage for the Travvy Awards where the coveted gold statuettes will be handed out to a crowd of industry greats on Jan. 25, 2017.
Looking forward to the 2017 Travvy Awards, we are remembering some of the winners that have graced the stage in previous years.
Best Overall Hotel-Europe: ROOM MATE HOTELS
With so many hotel companies and so many huge hotel chains, you might expect a large chain would receive the greatest number of votes from travel agents for Best Overall Hotel-Europe.
However, that award went instead to a small boutique brand, Room Mate Hotels. It shows that when it comes to the hospitality industry, passion, flair and personal attention can outweigh volume.
Room Mate hotels are located in the heart of a city, so visitors have easy access to cultural and artistic events. Each small property has a unique décor designed to make guests feel like they’re staying at a friend’s house.
With properties spread across Spain, as well as in Miami Beach, New York City, Florence, Milan, Amsterdam and Rotterdam, Room Mate Hotels has developed a fiercely loyal following, including a majority of travel agents voting in the 2016 Travvys, who chose Room Mate as their favorite among all the competitors worldwide.
Quite an accomplishment.
RUNNER-UP: Gresham Palace Four Seasons
This hotel is one of the luxury chain’s most exciting properties. If you are going to Budapest, there are few better places to stay than the Gresham Palace at the end of the iconic Széchenyi Chain Bridge, with views overlooking the legendary Danube River. With its art nouveau architecture, the Gresham Palace is like a fairy tale come true. And the service level and quality of the Four Seasons brand is so stratospheric as to make its guests feel like royalty.
