What are you doing June 24? If you're in Jamaica, or even just thinking of going, be sure to save the date for a very special evening of entertainment and fun.
The Issa Trust Foundation, a nonprofit established by Couples Resorts to provide Jamaicans with such services as health prevention, promotion and education, and access to improved medical care, is holding its first major charity event to raise funds for the pediatric ward of St. Ann's Bay Hospital.
The event, to be held at the all-inclusive Couples Sans Souci in Ocho Rios, will be headlined by the multi-platinum band Air Supply, singers of such hits as "All Out of Love," "Without You" and "Goodbye" and Jamaica's own Tessanne Chin, winner of NBC's "The Voice."
Air Supply's Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock first met in 1975 when rehearsing for "Jesus Christ Superstar," and the rest is history. They began performing together after the show ended each night, gaining a reputation for their harmonies and original songs. When CBS Records took a chance on them, their course to the top of the charts was mapped. Their first single shot to the top of the charts in Australia and from there they went on to open for Rod Stewart as he toured Australia, the United States and Canada.

Back in Australia, they continued to crank out more records before catching the ear of Arista Records' Clive Davis, who signed them in 1980. From there, they went on to record "Lost in Love" and "All Out of Love," both of which skyrocketed to the top of the charts. They were so popular that at one point they were tied with the Beatles for the number of consecutive top five singles. At the height of their fame they performed for HRH Prince Charles and HRH Princess Diana. As recently as 2011, the successful duo was putting out new albums and playing more than 150 shows a year.
Relative newcomer Tessanne Chin may have become a familiar face to the world when she appeared on Season 5 of "The Voice," but back in Jamaica, she was already a star, thanks to the reggae hit "Hideaway" and tours with reggae legend Jimmy Cliff. Her musical background-her father played in Jamaica's jazz fusion band E=MC2 and her sister Tami is a Universal recording artist-shines through in her breathtaking solo vocals and her collaborations, such as "Never Let Go" performed with Shaggy and the hit single "Loving You," performed with the group Kes.
At Shaggy's urging, Tessanne auditioned to be on "The Voice." While she quickly joined Adam Levine's team, she also had success on the digital charts with her versions of Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge over Troubled Water" and Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing." But it was her rendition of "Tumbling Down" that brought down the house and won her the title. More recently, she put out "Count on My Love," her first album for the Republic label. Her hit single "Fire" debuted on iTunes in May 2015, and "Love Suicide," which was released in February 2016, is tearing up the Billboard Adult R&B National Airplay Chart.
