AMResorts: 15 Years And Growing

AMResorts has enjoyed a good run as one of the leading leisure resorts companies in the U.S., and that successful streak looks destined to continue for the foreseeable future. The brand is celebrating its 15th anniversary in a big way after closing out 2015 with many impressive accolades and unmistakable signs of major success.
Making its debut in 2001 with relatively modest steps—it opened its first location, Sunscape Resorts & Spas, that year—AMResorts then took big strides the next year. In 2002, it unveiled Secrets Resorts & Spas in 2002. The adults-only destination was a first of its kind in Mexico. A third brand, Dreams Resorts & Spas, followed soon after and expanded the company’s offerings in the family-friendly market.
Five years after its start, the company made an impact as an innovative leader with the introduction of its signature Unlimited-Luxury and Unlimited-Fun models. These initiatives were unique in that they put a new spin on the standard all-inclusive approach by enhancing it in ways no other brand had ever attempted, offering such perks as limitless à la carte dining with no reservations required, 24-hour room and concierge service, complimentary mini-bars refreshed daily, an unlimited premium beverage program, comprehensive day and nighttime activities, and more, all without the traditional wristband process.

Fast forward a decade or so, and AMResorts has at this point firmly established itself as a leader of the pack. The company ended 2015 with 17 new resort management contracts and having added seven new destinations to its portfolio, among other accomplishments.
Things appear to be going even better this year. Just so far already, the company has celebrated the grand openings of two spectacular properties—Secrets Playa Bonita Panama Resort & Spa and Sunscape Puerto Plata Dominican Republic. And now that they have hit their stride and picked up momentum, it seems certain that things are poised to only just keep getting better, with eight more openings planned before the end of 2016.
This upward trend of expansion and success is surely due in no small part to understanding the marketplace, and appreciating the needs and priorities of customers. By anticipating trends and staying alert to changing interests among guests, AMResorts has been able to seize opportunities in areas that are on the cusp of becoming hot spots, continuously serving in the role of trend setter and staying ahead of the competition. This consumer awareness has also helped them adapt and switch gears quickly, to adjust to fluctuating trends and changing preferences in the marketplace.
Given this track record of setting trends and developing groundbreaking new concepts, it is not all that shocking that the future looks very bright for the company. By the end of 2018, AMResorts expects to have nearly 60 resorts, representing more than 20,000 rooms across the company’s six award-winning brands throughout Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America.
