Bahia Principe Celebrates 20th Anniversary

Hotel & Resort | May 14, 2015

The 20th anniversary of the creation of Grupo Pin~ero's Bahia Principe hotel chain greatly exceeded the expectations of the 600 guests – including friends, international tourism industry representatives and officials – who came together at the Grand Bahia Principe Bavaro Resort on Wednesday evening. Its touching and creative performances; the emotional speeches from chairman Pablo Pin~ero and his daughter executive vice president Encarna Pin~ero; the lively and surprising music and gastronomy show; and the displays of affection toward the Pin~ero family were the keynotes to this unforgettable evening.

In an entertaining speech full of anecdotes and memories, the company's founding chairman, joined on stage by his wife and three daughters, reviewed the 20 years of Bahia Principe's history, from when he decided to create it in 1995 with its first hotel in the town of Rio San Juan on the northern Dominican coast.

Despite his chain having the most number of rooms in the Dominican Republic, Pablo Pin~ero expressed his intention to continue investing in this tourist destination: “We hope to celebrate our 25th anniversary in the Dominican Republic with four or five more hotels.” He finished by thanking everyone, saying “I love you all very much. You are part of my life and I would like to thank you, especially my family, because without them I could not have done any of this.”

Meanwhile, a deeply emotional Encarna Pin~ero spoke on behalf of the second generation, along with her sisters Isabel and Lydia, vice presidents of marketing and quality, respectively, to thank everyone who has been working with Bahia Principe all these years for their professional dedication. She also thanked her parents for instilling in her values such as effort, humility, commitment and generosity to become involved in the company and help drive it forward.

The event was hosted by popular personality Jatnna Tava´rez, who presented the different parts of the gala interspersed with displays of friendship and affection toward the Pin~ero family and praise for the “best country in the world, my country, the Dominican Republic.” Tava´rez wanted the gala to be a celebration of “love at first sight, between the Pin~ero family and my country...Today we celebrate 20 years of love at first sight.”

Later, television personality Tava´rez opened an impressive show based on mapping techniques mixed with reality, a blend of technology and creativity as rarely ever seen. The central theme of the story was to represent the four countries where the Bahia Principe hotel chain operates (Spain, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Jamaica) through performances based on pairing entertainment and gastronomy from each country. It featured artistic choreography, acrobatics, projections... an outpouring of dynamism, avant-garde and elegance.

Following the show, Asonahores vice president Arturo Villanueva paid tribute to Pablo Pin~ero on behalf of the local tourism sector, presenting him with a commemorative plaque.

The finale of the gala, to nobody's surprise, was the most thrilling yet. A group of artists recreated the sun of the Bahia Principe logo, then danced around it presenting the attributes of the brand: joy, happiness, passion, naturalness, friendliness, quality, details, familiarity, etc.

The party continued to the beat of the music until late in the night.
