Carlson Rezidor Announces Plans for New Radisson Red Brand

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group revealed details about its new Radisson Red hotel brand in India last week, promising an upscale, self-service concept that focuses on design, technology, the customer experience and personalization.

Carlson Rezidor’s self-titled “Lifestyle Elect” brand, set to debut in China in 2016 with Radisson Red Shenyang Hunnan, aims to combine work and play and cater to “millennial-minded” travelers, whether they be millennials or Baby Boomers who are young at heart.

All Radisson Red hotels will feature free Wi-Fi for all guests, locally inspired art, an “event studio” with advanced technology for unconventional meetings and gatherings, and a café, bar and 24-hour deli that are open and connected to promote interaction and games.

In India, where Carlson Rezidor is the top international hotel operator by number of hotels, Radisson Red hotels will feature full-service restaurants, flexible rooms, in-room dining, a “super-sized” TV screen with surround sound and multifunctional tables that replace the traditional guestroom desk. 

“Radisson Red offers a differentiated guest experience, with lower construction and operating costs than traditional upscale hotels due to a multi-functional approach to design and efficient space-planning,” said Thorsten Kirschke, president, Asia Pacific, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group. "Radisson Red also gives owners the flexibility to customize the specifics to cater to the unique demands of each locale.”

"The economic outlook is optimistic and the demand for rooms in India has been growing by double-digit percentages over the past decade and this is expected to continue for the next few years,” Kirschke added. “Domestic travel is growing and international arrivals are on the increase. This is a market that is prime for our Radisson Red brand, which is positioned to address the needs of savvy travelers, while meeting the expectations of bottom line-focused owners.”

Carlson Rezidor currently has 74 hotels in operation and 43 more in the pipeline. The hospitality company plans to have 60 Radisson Red hotels by 2020.
