WHY IT RATES: Travel to Cozumel to experience an ancient tradition and celebrate the sacred Mayan journey. - Eric Bowman, TravelPulse Senior Editor
Experience this ancient tradition which has been taking place for the past eleven consecutive years. Four hundred canoers will depart from Xcaret park after months of preparation and encouraged by the great fighting spirit. They will cross the sea on traditional canoes to Cozumel Island, to receive the message of the Mayan goddess Ixchel.
The Occidental Cozumel and Allegro Cozumel will each have their own events at the end of May to enhance the experience for guests.
