Conde Nast Traveler Reveals 2015 Hot List of World's Best New Hotels
Following much deliberation, Conde Nast Traveler magazine released its 2015 Hot List this week, a comprehensive list showcasing what it considers to be the 60 best hotels and resorts that debuted over the past year.
"The standout properties were those that understood the intuitive needs of the modern traveler," said Conde Nast Traveler editor-in-chief Pilar Guzman in a statement. "The sweet spot for a Hot List hotel is a combination of old-school extravagance and service with just the right measure of modernity."
The five dozen properties to make the cut span the entire globe but are broken down into eight separate categories.
The two largest categories in 2015 were Urbanist Standouts and Design Stars, which each boasted 13 selections.
The former category celebrated three different London-based properties, including The Beaumont, Chiltren Firehouse and Ham Yard Hotel. New York's The Ludlow and Park Hyatt were also honored among the Urbanist Standouts.
Meanwhile, four different U.S properties were recognized among the top family-friendly hotels and resorts worldwide. Edson Hill (Stowe, Vermont), Four Seasons Resort at Walt Disney World (Orlando, Florida), Ritz-Carlton (Rancho Mirage, California) and Rhode Island's Watch Hill Inn joined Ecuador's Pikaia Lodge in the Galapagos Islands on this year's list.
When it comes to this year's Best Bargains, or accommodations charging less than $200 per night, 21 Broad (Nantucket, Massachusetts), Alma Historica Boutique Hotel (Montevideo, Uruguay), Delano Las Vegas (Nevada), Hotel Sahrai, (Fez, Morocco), The Rose Hotel (Venice Beach, California) and Tribal Hotel (Granada, Nicaragua) emerged as Conde Nast Traveler's favorites.
Nine different properties were singled out for their food, including a pair of South African hotels, the Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff in the nation's largest city of Johannesburg and Mont Rochelle Hotel & Vineyard in Franschhoek.
Perhaps those in search of Over-the-Top Luxury will find it at Gurgaon, India's ITC Grand Bharat, Paris' La Reserve, Istanbul's Raffles or China's Rosewood Beijing.
Finally, nature lovers and fans of the outdoors will want to take a closer look at Conde Nast Traveler's choice Remote and Wild and Beachside Escapes properties. Florida's The Miami Beach EDITION was the only U.S.-based property to emerge from either category.
