In 2005, Couples Resorts established the non-profit Issa Foundation with the idea of giving back to the Jamaican people through wide-ranging initiatives including health promotion, education and job counseling.
Today, more than 10 years later, guests of the resort are encouraged to support the Foundation's initiatives either by becoming a corporate sponsor, donor or hands-on participant.
In fact, guests of the resort are encouraged to expand their generosity and donate through the Pack to Make a Difference campaign, which collects school and basic First Aid and hygiene supplies, such as paper, pencils and scissors, musical instruments, laptops, toothpaste and band-aids to the island’s needy children.
This initiative has been so popular that Couples Resorts has introduced a new program offering Friday morning excursions for their guests to the Free Hill Primary & Infant School, where they can experience true Jamaican culture and make a difference first-hand.
Guests are invited to learn more about Jamaica's educational system and positively impact the life of a child. Among the activities are a tour of the school, interaction with the children, story-telling and a brief cultural exchange, reading and discussion as well as formal classroom teaching.
This is a unique opportunity for guests to personally deliver much-needed school supplies and other necessities to area school children.

The $35 per person cost ($65 per couple) includes a volunteer t-shirt and transportation between the resort and school. All proceeds benefit Issa Trust Foundation's education and pediatric program.
The Issa Trust Foundation was established as a nonprofit organization with the goal of providing prevention, health promotion and education, community health improvement and other services for the Jamaican people. It offers a continuum of outstanding clinical care to infants, children, adolescents and adults. In collaboration with local educational and professional services, the Foundation helps families provide a safe, nurturing and permanent home for their children by supporting programs that emphasize drug education and prevention, improved reading and writing skills, school and job counseling, and overall social responsibility.
The Foundation strives to provide an environment conducive to the educational needs of children in collaboration with other community resources. Together, through educational and professional programs, it works with, and advocates for families to provide a safe, nurturing and permanent home for children.
