Dream Hotel Group has announced that it will offer 12-percent commissions for qualified groups and meetings booked and actualized this year.
According to a statement issued by the company, the new offer is available to conference and event organizers, as well as third-party meeting planners and group travel agents. The offer expires December 31.
"In a time where travel agents and meeting planners seem underappreciated, we want to remind them that Dream Hotel Group is here, and we love their business," Jay Stein, CEO, Dream Hotel Group, said in the statement.
"We recognize and value the important role our intermediary partners play in attracting business and group bookings to our hotels. The decision to increase group commissions demonstrates Dream Hotel Group's commitment to supporting and maintaining a mutually beneficial partnership with third-party planners, particularly independent event organizers, with whom we have built long-standing relationships."
The move by Dream Hotel Group comes at a time when hotel brands such as Hilton and Marriott have been making headlines for slashing group commissions.
In January, Marriott International cut commissions paid to group and meetings intermediaries from the standard 10 percent to seven percent for all hotels in the U.S. and Canada.
Not long after, in March, Hilton announced plans to cut third-party group and meeting planners' commission from 10 percent to seven percent on bookings made at hotels in the U.S. and Canada.
Dream Hotel Group is among a handful of companies that have been raising rates. The hotels participating in the new offer include:
- Dream Hollywood in Los Angeles, California
-Dream Downtown in New York, New York
-Dream Midtown in New York, New York
-Dream South Beach in Miami, Florida
-Dream Bangkok in Bangkok, Thailand
-The Time New York in New York, New York
-The Time Nyack in Nyack, New York
-Unscripted Durham in Durham, NC
