Escape Winter Storm Jonas With Some Great Caribbean Travel Packages

There’s never a bad time for a Caribbean getaway, but winter’s grip on the U.S. provides another motivation for travelers to escape to a sunny island framed by white-sand beaches and brilliant blue waters. Several top Caribbean resorts are also offering early-season packages targeted to romantic couples, families and anyone looking to leave winter’s frost in the rear-view mirror.
For example, Barbados’ all-inclusive Mango Bay Hotel is offering special rates to travelers attending the island’s second annual Chocolate Festival & Conference, scheduled for Jan. 29 to 30 at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.
The festival will feature chocolate workshops, seminars and demonstrations where guests will learn how to make chocolate pasta and cocktails and even enter a "cupcake war." Attendees can also enter special chocolate challenges and sample sweet confections from chocolate makers, artisans and pastry chefs.
Nightly rates for attendees start at begin at $660 per room, per night, double occupancy for travel from Jan. 6 through April 30. The 76-room beachfront hotel is located within walking distance of the Limegrove Lifestyle Centre, where a portion of the festival will take place. Activities include use of an on-site health and fitness club, nightly entertainment and water sports including water skiing, kayaking, snorkeling, and wakeboarding are available.
The Bahamas’ Abaco Beach Resort and Boat Harbour Marina is offering a “Just Us Two” weekend getaway package featuring a private couples’ massage by the Sea of Abaco, a three-course romantic dinner for two on the beach, daily breakfast and champagne upon arrival. Packages start at $885 per person, double occupancy for stays from Feb. 10 to 14, which must be booked by Feb. 7.
Memories Resorts & Spa is offering a two-week sale on 2016 family getaways at two of its properties: Memories Splash Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic and Memories Grand Bahama in the Bahamas. Travelers who book stays from now through Jan. 31 will save 65 percent off standard rates, with free accommodations for kids age 12 and under. Rates start $105 per person, per night.
Memories Punta Cana features Splash Park, one of the Caribbean’s largest waterparks, plus five mouthwatering restaurants, three pools, two swim-up bars, plus access to the casino and Royal Spa at the neighboring Royalton Punta Cana Resort & Casino.
Located on Lucaya Beach outside of Freeport, the family friendly, all-inclusive Memories Grand Bahama features a unique pool built around a stone sugar mill, with water tubes, slides and a wave pool. Adults can drive, pitch and putt for free at the Reef Club Golf Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones. The resort also features a 35,000-square-foot casino.
Both properties feature all-inclusive packages including meals, accommodations, resort-wide Wi-Fi, non-motorized sports, entertainment and recreation. Guests seeking an enhanced experience, guests can upgrade to Memories’ Diamond Club level, featuring a accommodations in a dedicated Diamond Club section, an exclusive beach area, personalized check-in and check-out, selected premium drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and desserts in the Diamond Club Lounge.
In Puerto Rico, Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is offering a new four-night Dorado Escape packages featuring one free night’s stay; a $100 spa credit for the open-air Spa Botanico; daily breakfast for two at Mi Casa, with cuisine directed by celebrity chef Jose Andres.Packages are available from now through December 2016, with nightly rates starting at $1,599.
Dorado Beach Ritz-Carlton Reserve suites all feature ocean views with beach access, outdoor terraces, soaking tubs, indoor and outdoor rain showers, and dedicated “embajadores” service. Guests can also enjoy ocean-side dining options, cooking classes at La Cocina Gourmet Culinary Center, and play at Robert Trent Jones-designed golf courses.
The Viceroy Anguilla luxury resort is offering an “Anguilla Love” package offering couples a daily $300 resort credit, daily continental breakfast and cocktails at the resort’s Sunset Lounge and a special welcome amenity. Rates start at $850 per night, double occupancy for a two-night minimum stay.
Located on a cliff between two of Anguilla’s most beautiful beaches, Viceroy Anguilla offers an intimate and exclusive amenities ranging from private guestroom plunge pools to relaxing couples’ treatments at the resort’s award-winning spa.
