Esperanza Serves a Feast of Fresh Culinary Experiences

True to its Forbes Travel Guide five-star form, Esperanza, an Auberge Resort, has once again taken a good thing and made it even better. On bluffs overlooking two private coves and the Sea of Cortez, the Relais & Chateaux property in Los Cabos has revealed a menu of fresh culinary experiences, allowing travelers to savor the refined flavors of coastal Baja cuisine.

Among the stellar lineup are the dynamic Floating Lounge gathering space with DJ, Culinary Corner theme nights at the casual poolside La Palapa restaurant, and Spirits Programming highlighted by craft beer tastings and the 2016 Taste of Cabo.

“We are excited to expand our culinary program and offer guests new ways to experience all of the fresh produce and flavors of Baja,” said Marc Rodriguez, Esperanza’s general manager. “With our new Floating Lounge, specialty dining nights and craft beer tastings, guests can enjoy the bounty of the destination in breathtaking settings.”

Up to 25 can mix and mingle at private Floating Lounge gatherings with private butler service as a DJ plays hot tunes. The $1,500 price tag for a three-hour soiree also covers watersports activities that include parasailing, WaveRunners, snorkeling and stand up paddling.

Available nightly except Sundays, the Culinary Corner at La Palapa tempts with rotating  concepts. Guests can tap into such creative themed nosh as Burger Day (Monday), Wok & Roll with a sushi station and Asian fusion prepped fajita-style (Tuesday), Grill Out with fresh fish and steaks (Wednesday), Mexicanismo Fiesta with fireworks and local vendors selling handicrafts (Thursday), Fish Market with fresh catch selections (Friday), and Baja Pasta Night of local seafood and handmade pastas (Saturday).

On the libations front, guests indulging in half- or full-day poolside cabana rentals are privy to a dedicated margarita butler who mixes concoctions from a selection of a half-dozen flavors that include mango-jalapeno, ginger-grapefruit and hibiscus-rosemary.

As garnish, guests can also imbibe in such poolside amenities as Evian mist spray, fresh towels, sunscreen, crudites and two complimentary margaritas.

Esperanza’s tequila and beer expert highlights local brews with craft beer tastings at Pesca Ceviche Bar. The tasting pairs four artisanal Mexican brews with savory appetizers like battered fish tacos or crispy duck-breast tostadas. Offered from noon to 4 p.m., tastings are $45 per person.

Special events are also turning heads. On May 26, 27 and 28, the resort will partner with Chihuahua’s Encinillas Winery for five-course pairing Vintners’ Dinners led by Encinillas’ wine maker in residence for $99 per person. Additional Vintners’ Dinners will be announced throughout the year.

Taste of Cabo Gourmet Festival

On July 9-12, Esperanza’s Taste of Cabo gourmet food and wine festival adds icing to the culinary cake with an epic weekend of epicurean experiences. Executive Chef Guillermo Gomez will blend his culinary talents with celebrity chef brothers Kevin and Kent Rathbun, who both garnered fame on the Food Network’s “Iron Chef America.”

The decadent schedule includes fine wine, tequila and cocktail tastings, live cooking demonstrations, barbecue pool party and five-course dinner gala dinner.
