One of the Caribbean's signature luxury resorts will undergo an extensive renovation following the winter season. Operators of the British Virgin Islands' Rosewood Little Dix Bay resort will launch a complete renovation on May 1, the resort's most substantial beautification project since its founding more than 50 years ago.
Under the refurbishment the resort's guestrooms and suites will be completely re-designed. The resort's three restaurants will also be re-built and the property's landscaping will also be revamped. The resort will close for approximately 18 months, with re-opening scheduled for the end of 2017.
New York City-based Meyers Davis Studio, Inc. has been selected to lead the renovation and oversee the revamped resort's overall design concept. OBMI, a Miami-based architectural firm, will manage the remodeling of the resort's guestrooms and suites and create the new structure of the resort's Beach Grill.
Finally, Landscape Contractors and Design (LCD) will design and execute the resort's new landscaping, lighting and signage. The resort's re-design will also honor the original vision of Laurance S. Rockefeller, the U.S. financier who opened the resort in 1964 as luxurious Virgin Gorda hideaway.
Under the renovation the resort's rebuilt Beach Grill will be equipped with an open kitchen and offer a distinctive beach dining experience. The property's pavilion and Sugar Mill buildings will remain intact but will feature new indoor/outdoor dining areas. Guests will also enjoy an improved access to Little Dix Bay beach and an increased focus on sustainability, say company officials.
"Temporarily closing the resort will allow us to complete this refurbishment as quickly as possible and allow our guests to return to our island paradise in 2017," said Edward Linsley, Rosewood Little Dix Bay's managing director.
