Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita has once again enhanced its already impressive resume of awards and recognition with a recent nod from GOLF magazine. The beachfront property has been named as one of the top sites for teeing off in the publication’s GOLF 2016-2017 Best Places to Play rankings.
A first time recipient of the prestigious gold recognition, the Riviera Nayarit resort was among 37 premier destinations to land on GOLF’s annual list.
GOLF continues its 28-year tradition of highlighting the world’s top golf destinations. The award is based on reader feedback from GOLF.com’s Golfer’s Choice Awards that is collected annually from avid golfers across the globe. Winners are identified through the utilization of such criteria as golf, service, lodging, and food and beverage.

It just makes sense that Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita would merit this accolade since it boasts a pair of world-class Jack Nicklaus designed courses.
Both the Punta Mita Pacifico Golf Course that opened in 1999 and Punta Mita Bahia Golf Course that opened in 2009 have been thoughtfully designed to incorporate the area’s beautiful tropical landscaping and incredible ocean views. The former features stunning lakes and other water features, while the latter offers undulating fairways and greens that demand putting precision.
“We are honored to receive Gold status in GOLF Magazine’s annual Best Places to Play rankings, and be recognized for our premier golf experience offered to our resort guests and home owners in Punta Mita,” said John O’Sullivan, Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita’s general manager.
“To see our golf program included among such renowned golf destinations is a testament to our commitment to providing golfers with an unforgettable experience, on and off the links.”
The 7,001-yard Pacifico Golf Course takes full advantage of its seaside location. Golfers encounter eight holes fringing the water. Every hole on the resort-style design course offers striking views of the Sierra Madres. Count on generous landing areas off the tee and subtle movement in the greens that make this a fun course for players of all abilities to enjoy on a Mexico golf vacation.
Golfers can also enjoy the novelty challenge of the world’s only natural island green that’s dubbed “The Tail of the Whale.” This option “3B” hole is reachable only during high tide via the resort’s amphibious golf cart.
In contrast to Pacifico, the Bahia Golf Course offers more undulating fairways and greens that demand precise putting play.
While the resort's beautiful natural landscape provides a stunning backdrop for the entire course, one of the most breathtaking holes has a downhill approach with a panoramic view of Bahia de Banderas. Another noteworthy hole is nestled on the beach just steps from Punta Mita's famed El Faro surf spot.
Through the low season, green fees for both courses are $130 USD for nine holes and $195 for a full 18-hole round. Respective high season rates are $155 and $240.
The Agent's Edge
It’s important to note that play on these exclusive golf courses is reserved for those staying at Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita and St. Regis Punta Mita, plus home owners of private residences within the Punta de Mita residential community.
