From the Heart: Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta Debuts with Evolution, Affection and Fun

From the first “Buenos Dias” when you arrive to the last “adios” when you go, the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta truly provides Service from the Heart. That is more than just a slogan at this 335-room resort located on a private beach just seven minutes south of downtown. Every “Hola” and “Como Estas” is delivered with eye contact, a smile and a hand placed on the heart; which is much the continuation of the “Welcome Home” delivered by everyone upon arrival in the Puerto Vallarta area.
This past week, the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta opened with much fanfare and fervor. Fireworks, fabulous food and 45 mariachis helped ring in the beginning of a new era for the resort town. The celebration ended up being two-fold with the resort just finding out they have been awarded AAA Four Diamond Status.
The Main Lobby at the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta
Enrique Ramos Flores, the minister of Tourism for the state of Jalisco offered his congratulations and admiration saying, “Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta not only brings a well-known global brand to this destination, but it has done so by repurposing and preserving one of the most beautiful resort sites that already existed."
Hyatt Ziva and Zilara are the brands of the partnership between Hyatt Hotels Corporation and Playa Resorts Management to create the “evolution of the all-inclusive resorts.” Zilara is Hyatt’s adults-only resort with a focus on unique and spontaneous experiences coupled with sophisticated relaxation. Ziva is Hyatt’s resort for guests of all ages with an eye on the exciting beach vacation.
Formerly “Dreams,” a Playa Resorts Property, a full $20 million was spent to renovate and restructure the resort. The addition of a glorious main building and lobby connected both towers of the resort together while simultaneously providing a location for the new pools, spa, and restaurant concepts.
Differentiating itself in the all-inclusive market, the options here are not just unique from others brands, but even from the other properties in the brand. Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta has a blend of a la carté restaurants, an upscale buffet and various food carts along the pool deck. Try molè ice cream at the regionally inspired Casa Grande, the delicious fungi pizza at the Italian concept Melanzane, or the amazing curry laska poured tableside at Pureza, the resort’s Vietnamese/Thai option.
Their three-course a la carte dining option is called Blaze, where the traditional Mexican breakfasts and excellent cuts of meat and fish for lunch and dinner are almost as great as the waves crashing just below your table. For those who are interested in a more private meal, room service is available 24/7.
Where the resort really thrives is in the level of guest service that they maintain with consistency throughout the resort. Playa and Hyatt have always been known for treating guests above the industry standards, and that truly comes through here. The hand across the heart given with each greeting, which originates from “Tom” Fernando García Zalvidea’s absorbed Real Resorts, carries on here through the brand as a way of not just greeting your guest, but demonstrating that what they say truly comes from the heart and with love.
“We empower their team to make things right without the worry of making mistakes and encourage employees to contribute ideas that make the resort better for all,” Chief Marketing Officer Kevin Froemming said. “I would rather have a mistake made trying to make a guest happy than have an unhappy guest.” The staff is extremely brave and charismatic with names being remembered, meals timely, and the concierge continually going one step further for the guest.
When it comes to amenities and activities at the all-inclusive resort, there is plenty to do at no extra charge. Beach games, pool exercise and yoga classes are all available as well as all non-motorized boat rentals. Their fully stocked and state-of-the-art fitness center, plus all of the wet services, at the spa are free.
There is a team member on site to help book off-property extra expense excursions as well. There is one excursion off property that is included in the all-inclusive package: The Jungle Rock Climbing Tour. Strap on helmets (just in case you face-plant), wear study hiking shoes and head off into the jungle scaling small rocks, wading through water and climbing your way to a 40-foot waterfall.
Another way that the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta is evolving the all-inclusive idea is by making sure that the guest always has a view of the ocean. Whether you are in any restaurant, pool, room, spa or even the fitness center, there is a gracious view of the water. And the crash of the water is always there as beautiful background music.
In addition to the leisure facilities, there are 9,900 square feet of conference center space, as well as four breakout rooms all with full audio and visual equipment available. They are capable of holding events of up to 700 people with theater seating.
The Beachside Wedding Gazebo
Weddings are another important part of the resort, and they have abundant facilities to handle them. A beachside gazebo, many rehearsal dinner and reception location options and even a full wedding suite on the top floor are complemented by a beauty salon, work kitchen, space for pre-wedding cocktails and then an outdoor patio area for either the ceremony, the reception or both.
The Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta is a stunning property with amenities, restaurants and activities that are the evolution of all-inclusive. With a staff that truly provides service from the heart and the area’s only private beach, you will be hard pressed to find a better place to spend your vacation. As they say when you arrive in the city, “Welcome Home.”
