Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit Completes $20 Million Renovation
One of the most luxurious resorts in Riviera Nayarit, the Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, has wrapped up a $20 million renovation, resulting in significant enhancements to nearly half of its portfolio of 267 suites, two of its five restaurants and its spa.
“In order to maximize the experience of luxury and comfort for all guests a total of 131 Master and Parlor suite, as well as two additional suites for the disabled, were modernized in terms of amenities, furnishings and décor,” said Denys Montes De Oca, the resort’s director of sales.
The suites, which measure 1,000 square feet or more, include, among other things, private terraces with sitting areas; fully stocked minibars; white goose down comforters and pillows; bathrooms with tubs and step-in showers; Nespresso coffee makers; and deluxe bath amenities. Some of the suites also boast dining areas and Jacuzzis.
On the food and beverage front, Piaf, the resort’s French restaurant, boasts an entirely new look. “Piaf now features deep red seating and additional black and red wall décor – element that are consistent with its sister restaurant at Grand Velas Riviera Maya,” said Montes De Oca.
Azul, Grand Velas’ casual oceanfront restaurant serving breakfast lunch and dinner, now offers a salad bar and a live cooking station.
“We strive to consistently provide new scenarios in order for our guests to live a true experience of luxury and comfort,” she said, adding more enhancements are underway. “The main upcoming change is the complete renovation of our lobby bar,” she said.
In other developments, a eucalyptus-scented steam room and a peppermint ice fountain have been added to the resort’s spa, which new features a new look. “The design’s details seek to create a more organic setting with wood, bamboo walls and glass elements made by Mexican artisans,” said Montes De Oca.
In Montes De Oca’s estimation, the multi-million renovation is just one way in which Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit will continue to distinguish itself from the competition. “We are serious about pleasing guests from the moment they arrive, with fresh drinks and shoulder massages, to the pool concierge to personalized in-suite amenities,” she said.
The property attracts a wide range of guests from the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Latin America, Russia and the U.K, she said. In terms of lifestyle, the property appeals to destination wedding couples and their guests, honeymooners, travelers interested in guy and gal getaway vacations, and families and multigenerational groups.
For families, the resort even offers a baby service. “The baby concierge staff provides parents with all amenities necessary for keeping babies happy,” she said, including baby bottle sterilizers, cribs, strollers, baby baths and toys. The resort also provides such items as teethers, bottle and pacifiers, which guests are free to take home with them.
Grand Velas has also unveiled the Digital Detox program, which was designed to encourage bonding among family members. “We invite guests to take our Detox challenge, consisting of three days without electronic devices to reconnect with loved ones and the outside world through specially programmed activities,” Monte De Oca said.
The Nuevo Vallarta resort is set on the northern perimeter of Banderas Bay and is 15 away from downtown Puerto Vallarta.
