Hard Rock Hotels and Casinos have always been unconventional and unexpected, delightfully eccentric and quirky when it comes to its love of all things music and the ability to showcase its greatest memorabilia.
So perhaps the latest announcement of its newest planned opening should come as no surprise.
Continuing its expansion into Asia-Pacific, Hard Rock International will open a location in Johor, Malaysia, on the Desaru Coast in the eastern part of the country.
Hard Rock already announced plans for three properties in China in Dalian, Shenzhen and Haikou.
The Malaysia location will open in the fall of 2017 and feature a 365-room hotel in the resort area of Desaru Coast, a growing, up-and-coming area that already includes entertainment venues, restaurants, shopping, a waterpark and 45 holes of golf.
Hard Rock officials said it was a no-brainer given the 25 million tourists who visited the country last year.
“Malaysia is recognized as one of the leading destinations in Asia where Hard Rock has a strong following and brand recognition. We are confident we will continue to build upon the phenomenal success of the Hard Rock Hotel Penang with this unique property,” Leong Wy Joon, senior vice president of hotel development in Asia and India at Hard Rock International, said in a statement.
