Countless hotels boast character. However, only a select few are able to lure guests back with their haunted mystique.
With Halloween right around the corner, now is the time to explore the nation's scariest hotels.
We know of at least four hotels that should top every ghost hunters bucket list.
Magnolia Hotel
[CALLOUT]
The historic and haunted Magnolia Hotel in Seguin, Texas (located just outside of San Antonio) has been the site of numerous ghost sightings since it was built as a log cabin back in 1844. Nineteenth-century serial killer Wilhelm Faust is one of the many ghosts that wander the property.
"I love it when people say if these walls could talk and I go, they do," owner Erin Ghedi old KSAT 12.
The famous site will be open to the public October 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the Strange Town paranormal team will host public paranormal investigations at the hotel November 3-4.
Guided ghost tours are also available in November and December.
Lord Baltimore Hotel
The Lord Baltimore Hotel has been spooking guests for decades. Built in 1928, the 428-room hotel has a handful of distinct but equally terrifying features that make it so alluring during the Halloween season.
It's home to ghost sightings, vanishing remote controls and an elevator that goes up and down on its own.
"(The ghosts are) Molly, our resident child, and her parents," general manager Gene Addis told WBAL TV last year. "She's often seen wandering the hallways, rolling a red ball. Her parents (are) dancing in the ballrooms."
"We live with it. I have housekeepers who will not go in the guest rooms. I have two that quit because they were so tired of being chased by Molly."
Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel
If it's celebrity ghosts you're after this Halloween, Los Angeles' Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel is a must-visit.
The four-star property is the longest continually operating hotel in the city and is rumored to be haunted by Marilyn Monroe and Montgomery Clift.
Some guests have claimed to have seen Monroe's image appear in a mirror located next to a lower level elevator entrance while others believe Clift haunts Room 928. There have been reports of guests hearing him play the trumpet and recite his old movie lines in the hallways on the ninth floor.
Logan Inn
Pennsylvania's Logan Inn is among the oldest hotels in the U.S. so it's fitting that it's among the most haunted.
Originally established as a tavern back in 1722, the inn is home to a handful of ghosts, including that of Aaron Burr, who visited after killing Alexander Hamilton in their famous duel.

Guests truly interested in the paranormal will want to request room No. 6.
Recent guests have claimed to smell perfume and hear crying at night. The family portrait outside of the room is rumored to be haunted by the mother of a former owner.
