Hilton Worldwide to Debut Curio Brand in Europe in 2015
Hilton Worldwide has announced that it will debut its new Curio brand in Europe over the next two years.
According to Graham Smith of BusinessTraveller.com, the company is set to add a pair of historic hotels, Germany's Reichshof Hamburg and Turkey's Rumeli Han Istanbul, to its Curio portfolio, with the properties poised to officially join forces with Curio in 2015 and 2017 respectively.
"Curio was created in response to demand from owners of hotels which have their own distinct identity, but who want to benefit from Hilton's distribution advantages and international customer base, including more than 44 million Hilton HHonors members worldwide," said Curio's global head Dianna Vaughan.
"Since launching Curio less than a year ago, the reception from owners and guests has been incredible, and our maiden hotels in Europe join five hotels currently trading and more than 20 in the pipeline or with signed letters of intent across the world."
Beyond Europe, Curio has signed letters of intent for a handful of other notable properties, including the SLS Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, the Sam Houston Hotel in Houston, Texas, Hotel Alex Johnson in Rapid City, South Dakota, the Franklin Hotel in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and a development in Portland, Oregon.
Launched in the U.S. last summer, the Curio brand features both four- and five-star properties that range from boutique hotels to beachfront resorts.
The Reichshof Hamburg was built more than a century ago in 1910 in Germany's second largest city. The property is owned and operated by RH Operations.
The hotel is in the midst of a €30 million ($33 million) refurbishment program that is expected to completed sometime within the second quarter of 2015. Afterward, the hotel will boast 280 guest rooms, nearly a dozen meeting rooms and a ballroom.
The Rumeli Han Istanbul is also due for renovations. Upon completion in 2017, the seven-story hotel will feature more than 170 guest rooms and several restaurant and bar options, including a rooftop bar.
Located within a 19th century building, the hotel is currently owned and managed by Tarihi Rumeli Han Turizm Ve Insaat San.Tic. A.S.
