Social media savvy is becoming more and more important to the hotel industry as plugged-in Millennials and Centennials book rooms. We present some successful social media campaigns conducted by hotels, and if these examples are any indication, there’s plenty more waiting in the wings.
The common traveler may soon be able to score an underwater hotel room. Planet Ocean Underwater Hotel Managing Director/mastermind Tony Webb has just received a U.S. patent for a design that places guests in an 18-by-12-foot room about 30 feet underwater. Cost? As little as $3,000 a night. A prototype is currently under construction.
Strong Caribbean arrival numbers has spurred resort growth across the region. Jamaica, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Haiti each have notable news regarding either new construction, new openings or sales of properties. Click for details.
It’s official: Extended Stay America is Santa Claus’ official hotel. Among other tasks, the jolly old elf will serve as the brand’s holiday Goodwill Ambassador for its "Give Ho-Ho-Hope" campaign — raising awareness to the Hotel Keys of Hope program, which provides free and discounted rooms to cancer patients traveling for potentially lifesaving treatments.
